'Ildokwan' means 'School of oneness' or 'Unity' and was founded by Andy Davies, a former nine-time British Champion and European Silver Medalist.

Grand Master Andy Davies is a fully accredited 9th Dan Black Belt holder certified by the World Taekwondo Chung Do Kwan Headquarters in Korea.

He first began his training in Martial Arts in 1968 from which time he has studied, Judo, Kung-Fu, Karate and Taekwondo and was instrumental in helping to establish the British Olympic Taekwondo Governing Body and served as a member on the National Executive Committee. As a Regional Coach he coached one of his students to winning an Olympic Selection Championships plus coaching many other national and international champions.

 

A former member of the Royal Air Force (Military) Police, he represented the RAF in inter-service championships and also taught  Taekwondo to US Special Forces (Navy Seals) whilst on detachment.  Later, as a civilian Police Officer, he competed in the National Police Karate (Martial Arts) Championships.

                                             Grand Master Davies has successfully competed in many Open events where he won nine British Titles and  

                                                  a European Silver Medal, representing Great Britain as well as competing in international Poomsae

                                                  competition at the invitation of the National Olympic Taekwondo Governing Body.

                                                  Always a follower of the traditional values of Taekwondo Grand Master Davies has maintained his

                                                                                                                    continued support for the original Korean 'Kwan' system

                                                                                                                     being affiliated to and accredited by the World Taekwondo

                                                                                                                     Chung Do Kwan in Korea.  In addition, his desire to learn

                                                                                                                   'authentic' Taekwondo led him to study under the late

                                                                                                                Supreme Grand Master Kim, Bok Man, who was one of the

                                                                                                             'original founding pioneers of Taekwondo and the first

                                                                                                           'ever' full-time Korean Taekwondo instructor to be

                                                                                                         appointed to teach outside of Korea.  Grand Master

                                                                                                    Davies was privileged to be one of the first three people

                                                                                               in the world to be promoted to 9th Dan Black Belt by

                                                                                Supreme Grand Master Kim.  He was also promoted to 9th Dan

                                                            by the World Taekwondo Chung Do Kwan in Korea and the International

                                                           Jun Tong Taekwondo Federation.

                                                                Today, Grand Master Davies oversees the running of the Ildokwan

                                                                 Taekwondo Schools, as well as being the President of UK Chung Do Kwan

                                                                    and Traditional Chung Do Kwan organisations and continues to promote the

                                                                    principles of Supreme Grand Master Kim's 'Practical Taekwondo' applications

                                                                      and philosophy..
